I'm a paragrapIAloha, I am a fused glass artist creating large and small works of art on the Big Island of Hawaii.   I grew up in an artistic home where my mom designed greeting cards. She and my father created a small successful business (Elan Studios) selling greeting cards along the west coast so I grew up in her studio watching her always create.  They have since moved on to other ventures but that experience inspired me to be creative in that I have always had a regular practice of drawing and painting.  I studied Psychology at the University of Oregon and transferred to the University of Hawaii where I graduated in 2000.  I fell in love with the beauty of Hawaii, the people here, and the aloha spirit of the islands.  I worked as a property manager until 2013 and than my mother influenced me again and taught me how to do fused glass.  I immediately fell in love with the art form because of the beautiful qualities of light and glass together. Making large pieces is a difficult but rewarding process.  I buy the best glass from Bullseye glass in Oregon which is more expensive but worth it because of the clarity and vibrancy of the colors. I create custom pieces which can be used in variety of ways. Glass Panels can be framed and hung in windows or on walls,  Panels can also be hung on a wall using standoffs which are modern metal hardware pegs which hold the piece slightly away from the wall to let the light come through.   I also do custom sconces along with all kinds of large bowls, platters, and plates.  I would love to make a custom piece for you!hPaI I shoI have.
